Most at the Oscars sat on their hands last night at the beginning of McConaughey’s acceptance speech.

He said, ‘First off, I want to thank God because that’s who I look up to; He’s graced my life with opportunities that I know are not of my hand or of any other hand.”

In those few words, McConaughey gave a sincere testimonial to what God has done in his life.

The reaction?

Scattered, light applause.

Maybe there were others who wanted to applaud, but caught themselves as they noted reaction around them.

The audience only got back into the acceptance speech when the actor talked about his worldly father.

Thanking and praising your father on earth … that’s okay, but thanking and praising your Heavenly Father …

I was interested in what kind of reaction McConaughey might spark beyond the Hollywood set.

So far today, I’ve seen support for what he did, but others saying his remarks were not proper and even some suggesting that they were offensive.

Matthew, I say, Amen, and may you continue to recognize and publicly state how God has Blessed you.
