There was a time that if a kid got in trouble at school, he (at that time it was almost always a “he”) was sent to the principal’s office, got a good paddling and when the kid got home, there was another paddling.

Nowadays, any school with a Corporal Punishment Policy … would be under attack and anyone involved in it would be jailed.

Plus, now when a kid gets in trouble (and in this day girls are just as likely to be the culprit), the kids parents might show up, criticize and maybe even threaten teachers and administrators for disciplining their child.

When I was in school, there were stories about the principal’a paddle.

It was big, with holes on it and maybe even electrified.

Well, I am ashamed to admit that I learned first hand what that paddle looked like.

A couple of times I was sent to the principal’a office.

I won’t get into why …. because I was probably framed — I’m sure that I was innocent.

I bent over a desk and got 5 hard whacks; the football coach was always the one administering the punishment.

Of course, when Dad got home that night, he got his belt and gave me a whipping.

I’m sure many of you have your own memories of those days.

Would it be good to return to that time?

Would it even be possible?
